We cannot but always wonder how time flies. Two terms have already passed. We are looking forward for the last, but not the least term of 2016/2017 session.
“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day-in and day-out”, Robert Collier. Let us do the brief recap of the activities that made the second term a success.
  1. Water Week and excursion
Maximus children had a wonderful time studying everything about water for the whole week. Practical sessions and excursion to OGC Foods & Beverages Lasena Mineral Water helped the students to learn about the characteristics and uses of water.
  1. Valentine Walk/Cleaning
Mother Theresa said: “Give your hands to serve and your heart to love”
We believe all our neighbors on Bayo Oyede Street will remember how Maximus School students along with the teachers and nannies swept and raked the street on the 14th of February, 2017. Also, that blessed day the students and teachers brought some gifts for the orphans of Love Home Orphanage in Magodo. There is no better display of love than practical help.
  1. Leadership Day/Career Day
Do you know habits of a leader? They are seven:
  • Be proactive
  • Begin with the end in mind
  • Put first things first
  • Think win-win
  • Seek first to understand than to be understood
  • Synergize
  • Sharpen the saw
All these habits Maximus children know off-hand. On the 10th of February they met a professional who explained how to apply seven habits of a leader in a real life. We appreciate our parent, Mr. Atalabi, who came to talk about his profession – chartered accountant. All what was said that day will help the students to choose their future career.
  1. Health and Safety Week
“Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship”, Buddha.
We teach our students to appreciate their health, thus Health and Safety Week took place in Maximus between 6th and 10th of March. Every day the students learned different areas of life where they should be careful and attentive. For example, dealing with fire or personal hygiene. Children were sharing their own experiences during the assembly. In order to conclude that important educative week, we invited a Red Cross representative who gave a health talk and a short drama. The programme was ended with Health Quiz and the winners from each class received a bottle of hand sanitizer.
  1. Pyjamas’ Day
15th of March was a funny and eventful day. The students received a clear orientation on dressing habits. Every type of clothing has its own mission and neglecting this fact can cause embarrassment. An interesting drama performed by students and a teacher taught everyone how to dress at home and outside.
What a successful and eventful term!

The school resumes on the 2nd of May, 2017. All children should resume with their examination questions on time in order not to miss any school activity.
Please note that homework is a vital part of your child’s formative assessment in school. Therefore it needs to be taken seriously. Homework defaulting does not help children to progress well in school and it will always be frowned at.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to donate story books to the school library when your child celebrates his/her birthday. Please remember to write your child’s name at the front page so that future children of our school will know who donated the book. Also, story books are available in the school library for the children to borrow.
Clean school uniform, polished footwear, neat hairstyle and cut finger nails make your child a good ambassador of Maximus Elementary School.
Please be reminded as a matter of discipline that no child is permitted to bring money to school for any reason otherwise he or she will be punished and the cash seized.
Girls should have neatly weaved and brushed hair. BEADS AND HAIR EXTENSIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOL. Kindly remeber to take out any hair extensions or weaves before  your child resumes school. The boys should have low cut hair neatly brushed or combed.
It’s a reminder for those who are with outstanding for the second term: PELASE PAY UP BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE THIRD TERM. IN CASE OF INDEBTEDNESS YOUR CHILD(REN) WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SCHOOL ON THE 2ND OF May, 2017.
